“I
went to an Ayurvedic physician and he prescribed yoga as
part of a whole lifestyle change-but of course I resisted
this for a couple years.
Finally a friend invited me to a
Bikram
class after a late night party and stood me up-I went anyway
and was totally hooked. I practiced Bikram daily for 5 years
after that. I am trying to remember what my life was like
before yoga-much less colorful, and I was so hard on myself-I
can only imagine how I was with other people.
My heart has
melted
open for people from my practice, and I have so much compassion
for myself and others now. Oh yeah, I am flexible and strong
now instead of just flexible. The most
immediate result I saw from my yoga practice was stress relief. I would just
cry because it was the only 90 minutes of peace I would have
all day long-it felt like it was the only time in my whole
life I felt at peace.
There is nothing that isn’t touched by yoga
in my life. I got married-and
that would never have happened. I teach yoga that would never
have happened. I eat healthy and vegetarian, that would never
have happened.
To anyone considering yoga, I say try it for
10
times before you judge yourself-just try it on and be ready
for anything because yoga meets you where you are. Whatever
is most important to transform will be touched first. ENJOY
